How to Reach Munnar By Train
Munnar is not situated on the rail route and therefore no direct trains run in the town. The Nearest Railway station is at Aluva situated approximately 110 km apart from Munnar. Most of the trains have stoppages at this Aluva station. There are taxi & bus stands at the station available for visiting Munnar with minimal fares. Another station close to is Angamaly, but Aluva has got bigger stations & more stoppages.
If time is the factor then Aluva is the better option as Munnar is closer as compared to Ernakulam. Taxi fare from Aluva is Rs. 2000/- (approx) while from Ernakulam is Rs. 2500/-(approx), so Aluva is relatively cheaper as well. All the taxis are available on pre-paid basis near stations. Although Aluva serves to be the nearest station for local commute, Ernakulam connects Munnar with the major metropolis of India, like, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata etc. The roads connecting Munnar to Kochi, Ernakulam and Aluva have great upkeep and are maintained by the State as well as Central Governments.
